ECHO, acronym for “Educating for Environmental Sustainability: Creative Learning Centers and Digital Languages,” is an Erasmus+ Key Action 2 project in the adult education sector, tailored to the specific needs of the European adult learning community in the field of Sustainable Development, Sustainability, and Environmental Protection. The thematic core of ECHO is composed of keywords such as environment, sustainability, promotion of ecological perspectives and attitudes—European and global challenges that require complex thinking and layered design approaches. ECHO is implemented by an international partnership involving organizations with extensive experience, coming together to devise a strategic path capable of rethinking educational spaces by creating new ones concretely oriented towards the future.
Adult education is thus linked to the primary languages of creativity, cultural offerings, and digital innovation. ECHO starts with the recognition of gaps in various European educational and training systems concerning Sustainability, Environmental Protection, and Sustainable Development. Therefore, the project aims to promote systemic awareness and the value of Environmental Sustainability as an educational action, leveraging the relationship between anthropogenic and ecosystem and outlining, in a simple and appealing manner, new habits and concrete behavioursrooted in the individual. This is supported by appropriate critical thinking and a model of active and responsible citizenship.
